On Wednesday May 16th 2007 Bold Canine Shiloh Shepherds and Obedience had our 15,000th visitor to the site! We're thrilled that Bold Canine has become a popular spot on the internet for information on Dog and Puppy Obedience Training and Pet Services in Erin and surrounding communities (Orangeville, Guelph, Georgetown, Brampton, Hillsburg) and of course on the majestic Shiloh Shepherd dog.
Since we began tracking our visits in July of 2005, over 15,000 visitors from all parts of the globe have found there way here to learn about us, our dogs, breeding program, and canine services.
Thanks to very detailed visitor information gathered, we're able to see just how close or far away some folks are visiting from. Of course, being located just north of Toronto in Ontario, a majority of our visitors are from the southern Ontario area, or are fellow country men and women in Canada. Outside of that, many American visitors find there way here to learn more about our Shiloh Shepherd program. And even further from the United States, we've had visits from locations around the world covering every continent.
With our services and Shiloh Shepherd information growing in popularity we are now averaging approximately 7,000 page views per month, and nearing top search engine placements on many of our services. We hope to continue to be able to reach out locally, and abroad, to continue to share what we have to offer.
We anticipate being able to celebrate our 20,000th visitor by the third quarter of 2007. The only question is where in the world that visit may come from! Perhaps a contest needs to be in order? Stay tuned.

The S3 Is Here - Shiloh Septic System

ERIN, ON - In recognition of Earth Day 2007 we thought that there had to be something better that we could do in order to reduce the amount of household waste going to the local landfill. At Bold Canine we are already very active recyclers, and utilize a composter for organic kitchen waste.
In the summer of 2006 I had purchased a commercial Dog Waste System which a friend had recommended. To the tune of almost $100 CAD, the "extra large" unit might have sufficed for a one dog household - but certainly not with four Shiloh Shepherds. So, the unit never actually went into use (interested parties can contact me or look for it on ebay), but due to it's simple design, did prompt some thought into how I could make my own style of unit that would handle the "volume" of waste that four Shiloh Shepherds would produce on a daily basis. My web quest had begun.

My web quest had begun.
I came across a site that had already done exactly that. Built a simple, cheap, and effective Dog Waste System. The idea looked perfect, and after cross referencing with various Septic principles, there was no reason for it not to achieve the required results.
All Septic Systems work by utilizing three basic components - a means to leech into the ground, water, and bacteria to break down the solids. This can be achieved quite easily, and cost effecitively too!

Aly Earns Herding Instinct Certificate!

BAXTER, ON - What a blast we had with the RBPCO (Rare Breed Performance Club of Ontario) on Sunday May 6th, as Aly was entered in their Herding Instinct Test. Talk about fun! Within seconds Aly's naturing herding instict kicked in and it was off to the races rounding up some sheep in Baxter, Ontario.
Under the watchful eye of the instructor, Aly passed with flying colours and was given some very kind compliments on her potential for completing other levels of Herding competition. Hopefully to follow in Aly's mother's footstep (Faith - who has her Junior Herding Dog Title!).
Aly will not bear the suffix HIC to her formal title, and joins her housemate Gunner as Team Bold Canine members with their HIC certification. In either the fall or the spring of 2008 Lola will be taken to have a go at the Herding.
Aly's next "working"/"obedience" titles are to try for her CGN (Canine Good Neighbour) and for her TD (Therapy Dog) with St. Johns Ambulance in the fall (just like her housemate Lola).

Bold Canine at All About Pets Show
Bold Canine was again pleased to represent the International Shiloh Shepherd Dog Club at the 2007 edition of the Toronto All About Pets Show!
The show gave us a great chance to educate the public on this beautifulo breed and the great club that represents it.
We were going by a number of ISSDC volunteers who brought their Shilohs down to share in the fun and meet their adoring fans.
A great weekend indeed!

Lola Ultrasound Confirms Pregancy!!!
We're thrilled to report that the utlrasound performed yesterday on Lola (Miralce's Bold Copacanbana) confirmed that she is indeed expecting!
Lola was bred to Chain (Vision's Chain of Command) owned by Cheryl Mundy of Shadowgate Farm (www.shadowgatefarm.ca). Chain is an SSDCA/ISSR Grand Victor and National Select, and a great additional to the Bold Canine program. We simply could not be happier than to have had an opportunity to have our Lola bred with such a wonderful smooth coated male.
Due to Lola's Speen getting in the way, we were unable to get a firm count on the number of puppies currently developing, but an X-ray slated for 3 weeks from now show give us a better count.
Stay tuned for more exciting new on this great pairing!

Baby Jade Enters First Show!

One of the biggest thrills for us this past show weekend was to see our progeny in the show ring for the very first time.
Jade (Lola/Gunner 06) exactly 4 months old (on Saturday) entered the show ring for the first time.
Being a puppy, she was just full of beans and energy bringing a smile and chuckly to the judge and onlookers. She's shooting up like a bean stalk, and has the sweetest disposition that kept the public flocking to her all weekend long.
We were beyond words happy when she won her first class placement by winning the 3-6 month old class and took home her first "First Place" blue ribbon. There's something very special about "firsts" in the ring - a first class, first winner's dog/winner's bitch, first breed, group, or show.
Jade's family, Al & Joanne, were wonderful this weekend and are very proud of their special girl.
Sportsmen Show Success

The first show of the RBCSWO season is now done, and we're pleased with the results.
Gunner took a "Best in Show" on Saturday afternoon which we are extremely pleased with. With 150 show entries, the Sportsmen Show is critical to the year end RBCSWO standings, and a good performanc eher was really hoped for. We're very happy with his BIS, along with the other shilohs that did so well.
Aly really surpised us. She was 3x Winners Bitch, 1x Best of Winners, 1x Group 2nd, 2x Group 1st, and TWO TIMES PUPPY RESERVE BEST IN SHOW (both times to a Shiloh that took the Best in Show title - Gunner and Chuck).
Aly is now a Breed and Junior Canadian Champion (needs one point after 12 months of age to earn her full Canadian Champion Title). Aly beats out Lola by a few weeks who had also completed her breed championship at 10 months (but Aly was exactly 10 month on March 17th).
This now means that all three Bold Canine breeding dogs are championed, and when Aly is old enough we hope that she may eventually win a Best in Show award so that all of our dogs are fortunate enough to have won such an honor.

Lola Update & Sportsmen Show

Lola's (shiloh shepherd) progesterone levels have peaked, indicating that the eggs have begun their decent.
So, today (Friday March 16) Lola will be taken down to Oakville for a visit with her favourite Shiloh Shepherd Smooth Coated male, Chain (Vision's Chain of Command).
Visits to her hunka hunka burnin' love man Chain are planned for Friday/Sunday/Tuesday/and Thursday of next week (can't have too many special "visits").
In addition to the Lola breeding, the Toronto Sportsmen Show begins tomorrow at the Exhibition grounds. Aly will be showing, along with Gunner.
If you're in the area, stop by booth 9608 on the back wall by ring three and say hello and meet the gang!

Ramping Up For Sportsmen Show
Things at Bold Canine are gearing up for the 2007 Show Season, which begins next week with the Toronto Sportsmen Show!
The Toronto Sportsmen Show is considered the "crown jewel" of the RBCSWO show season due to the vast number of entries, and the huge volume of visitors (the three biggest of the year are Sportsmen, Woodstock in July, and Brampton in October). Again this year the Shiloh Shepherd attendance will dominate the numbers with almost 25% of the 150 or so entries!
In addition to the show on March 17/18, the ISSDC Canada Club Booth will be present in the club section of the show from Wednesday March 14th thru to the end of the show on Sunday the 18th.
A number of volunteers will be staffing the booth throughout the week, with many of them bringing down their special Shiloh Shepherd dogs to show off to the admiring public.
Be sure to come down and visit!

Lola Earns Therapy Dog Certification
Bold Canine Shiloh Shepherds and Obedience's very own Lola (Miracle's Bold Copacabana) has passed her St John Ambulance Therapy Dog certification!
Lola has become the first Shiloh Shepherd in our area, and one of just a few Canadian Shiloh Shepherds that have been given this title.
The TD title is not just one that gets tagged onto the end of a name, but rather is a real working titled to be used in the community. Lola and Caroline will begin working with the St. John Ambulance Therapy Dog program to service the community - primarily care giving facilities such as our local senior's home, special needs centres, etc.
Caroline and Lola must put in a minimum of 60 hours per year in visits, but I'm sure they'll do much more than just that. This will be a truly rewarding experience for the entire Bold Canine Shiloh Shepherd Team. Being able to give back to the community that has given so much to our family is a very satisfying thought.
Stay turned to the Bold Canine Recent news page for updates and photos on Lola and Caroline's progress.

Lola In Heat! Breeding Mid March
The countdown has begun to the Lola/Chain Shiloh Shepherd breeding! Lola went into heat on Thursday March 2nd and we expect the two lovebirds to "pair" during the week of March 12th.
We expect that this pairing will produce some beautiful, well boned, soft tempered, Shiloh Shepherds.
With an IC (Inbreeding Coefficient) of 9.78% the merging of the old blood and new blood will be a great addition to the Shiloh gene pool and advance plans are already being sought at progeny from this litter being used as breeding stock.
Stay tuned for more updates!
